Clinically Speaking, There is a Big Difference in PBMs

Keeping Drug Costs Low

  • Based on EmpiRx Health’s book of business trends, our clients’ drug costs increase approximately 2% per year vs 15% on average for other PBMs.

Clinical Savings Guaranteed at 3:1 ROI

  • If we don’t meet our clinical savings guarantee, we pay the client dollar-for-dollar. No other PBM in the market does this.

58% Prior Authorization Approval Rate

  • We don’t just rubber stamp PAs. Each PA is reviewed by a PharmD.
In Case You Missed It:

EmpiRx Health recently issued a press release strongly supporting the growing efforts by Congress and the Federal Trade Commission to rein in the largest PBM companies and their “anticompetitive” practices that have contributed to rising prescription drug costs. The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability held hearings earlier in July to examine how the big three PBMs have exploited their size and influence to expand their profits at the expense of patients and the organizations that sponsor pharmacy benefits plans. These hearings followed the release of the committee’s report on the practices of the biggest PBMs.

In EmpiRx Health’s press release, our CEO Danny Sanchez commented that EmpiRx Health and many others in the pharmacy care industry “wholeheartedly support the work of the Oversight Committee and the FTC in addressing the deeply flawed business practices of the big three PBMs.” You can read the full copy of our press release here.

Featured Client Case Studies

Population Health Management Engine Identified: A 37-year-old patient was prescribed medication that was not FDA-approved for their condition. Upon careful review of the patient’s chart notes, it was identified that the patient had received treatment for seven months with her previous insurance company and had no clinical response to treatment.

Original Rx: Acthar HP gel 80U/ml @ $87,000 per dose

Our Clinical Pharmacist collaborated with the patient’s prescribing physician to discuss an alternate treatment: Rituxan, which has shown effectiveness in clinical studies. The patient’s symptoms resolved after the first infusion cycle, allowing her to resume her work and normal activities.

New Therapy: Rituxan 1g @ $10,000 per dose

$482,000 Annual Plan Savings achieved.
